Mission

At Auburn University Recreation and Wellness – we know wellness is so much more than physical health. We want to shape the whole person and our community. We celebrate movement, team sports, outdoor pursuits and the joy of learning. We provide opportunities to unplug, have fun, try something new and take a break from the worries of life. We have a passion for working with students and while we lead with an entrepreneurial spirit, we’re not a business. We’re in the business of changing lives.

Description of Facility(s)

Auburn University Recreation and Wellness opened the doors to the Recreation and Wellness Center in 2013. Within its 280,000-square-foot floor, the center hosts various activities within its multiple functional fitness areas, five group fitness studios, Olympic powerlifting space and a dedicated personal training area.

Features

  • A one-third-mile inclining track.
  • Two, 50-foot climbing towers.
  • A bouldering wall.
  • Eight basketball courts.
  • Two multi-activity courts.
  • Massage chairs.
  • Resort-style pool.
  • Two cold tubs and a hot tub.
  • Outdoor equipment rental center and bike shop.

The SportsPlex and Intramural Fields provide Auburn students with informal recreation opportunities, organized team activities, and a chance to compete in their favorite club or intramural sport.

Features

  • More than 30 acres of field space.
  • Five acres of green space.
  • 10 tennis courts.
  • Eight pickleball courts.

Programming Highlights

Fitness Programs

We offer free group fitness classes monthly. Students can sign up for group fitness classes, personal training and Olympic powerlifting facilities. We also host signature events including Demo Days, Pump Up Your Heart, Yoga Rave and Fall Into Fitness.

Intramural and Club Sports

Students can join a team or participate as free agents through IMLeagues for sports like soccer, basketball, flag football and volleyball.

Outdoor Programming

Auburn Outdoors hosts trips like bike tours, climbing workshops and various outdoor adventures. The rental center offers equipment for personal outdoor activities, often featuring promotions like discounts during seasonal events.

Aquatics and Climbing

Facilities include a resort-style pool, hot tub and climbing wall, ideal for both relaxation and a challenge. We’ve featured annual events including the Polar Plunge, Dunkin’ and Divin’ and Splash Bash.

Wellness Initiatives

Along with physical wellness programs, we also offer holistic health support through nutrition counseling, healthy relationships and drug and alcohol use.
