Mission

Drexel University Recreation’s (UREC) mission is to promote healthy, active lifestyles to the Drexel community by fostering a culture committed to engagement, experiential learning and diverse programs.

Description of Facility

Opened in February 2010, the Drexel UREC Center serves as the fitness and wellness hub for Drexel and its surrounding communities. The facility houses state-of-the-art fitness equipment along with several recreational services and amenities.

Drexel University

There is 18,000 square feet of fitness space. Around 13,000 square feet also serves as a multipurpose gymnasium. Within these areas are 425 pieces of cardio and strength equipment, an indoor climbing wall, an Olympic size swimming pool, an elevated indoor track with three lanes, seven international size squash courts, and two aerobic studios with a variety of group exercise offerings.

The facility recently underwent a holistic refresh which replaced all existing equipment with newer, more advanced technology while also introducing a redesigned layout to better utilize space, simplify traffic flow and improve the overall user experience.

The renovation honors the commitment to provide safe, state-of-the-art spaces that encourage a sense of belonging and encourage active participation.
