MISSION
To engage the university community in physical and wellness activities by offering the finest collegiate recreation programs, services and facilities. Programs and services range from group fitness, aquatics, adventure trips, intramural and club sports and many other activities.
FACILITIES
The Ohio State University is home to five rec sports facilities located throughout campus, all offering a wide range of operating hours and amenities. The Recreation and Physical Activity Center (RPAC) is the largest recreation facility on campus.
The facility helps students live a life in motion, while enjoying a wide range of activities and programs. Featuring gymnasium space, 25,282 square feet of weight and fitness space, multi-purpose rooms for fitness and educational classes as well as a natatorium with five pools. Open from early morning until late in the evening the facility welcomes over 5,000 visitors daily.
FUN FACTS
- Community extends beyond the students, faculty and staff at OSU. To serve the recreational needs of the entire community, the Department of Recreational Sports offer a variety of programs to families, friends, alumni and neighbors of the university.
- The department also runs an Adapted Recreational Sports (ARS) program with the goal of enhancing independence and inclusion for individuals with disabilities through recreation and physical activity.
- Student can quench their travel thirst with various adventure trips such as sea kayaking in the Florida Everglades, Introduction to Ice Climbing, Southern Utah Canyon Exploration, Red River Gorge Rock Climbing and so much more.
- OSU will host the 2016 NIRSA National Basketball Championships in April.
