MISSION STATEMENT

UT Recreational Services (UTREC) strives to enhance the human condition with a focus on health and well-being by providing impactful programs and services that enrich student learning as well as The University of Toledo community.

Vision: We are the premier service provider to the UT community for healthy lifestyle options and development opportunities for student success.

FACILITY AMENITIES

UTREC has four facilities — three are located on the main campus of the University of Toledo and one is located at on the Health Science Campus of the University of Toledo.

  • Student Recreation Center — Main Campus
    • Weight and cardio equipment
    • Indoor track — three lanes, six laps per mile
    • Climb wall — 30 feet high
    • Five basketball courts
    • 2 outdoor sand volleyball courts with patio
    • Auxiliary gym
    • Two racquetball courts
    • Aquatic center with three pools
    • 11-lane competition pool
    • Dive well
    • Leisure pool
  • Morse Fitness Center — Health Science Campus
    • Weight and cardio equipment
    • Indoor track
    • Basketball court
    • Fitness studio
  • Carter Field — Main Campus
    • Nine acres of land used for intramural sports, sport clubs, band practice, varsity football practice, campus events and external events

FUN FACTS

  • The first university recreation center in the nation to have a waterslide.
  • Hosts Student Leadership Academy (SLA) a two-day course with presentations from UT staff, faculty, Board of Trustees and community professionals to help build stronger student leaders in the recreational services department and the University of Toledo.
  • The Office of Recreational Services partners with Metroparks Toledo, Lucas County Special Olympics and Lucas County Board of Developmental Disabilities to bring unified sport opportunities including the Toledo Unity Bowl and March Madness.
  • The Student Recreation Center and Morse Fitness Center see nearly 400,000 visits annually.
  • A nine-member professional staff in the department.
