Make 2017 Your Most Productive, Healthiest Year Yet

I am not usually a fan of New Year’s resolutions, instead I like to reflect on each year and think about things I can do better. However, this is the time of year when practically everyone is making a resolution, or at least thinking about. So, the other day when I was going through social media, I saw this photo (above). I loved the quote, “Tomorrow is the first blank page of a 365-page book.”

Each year we are given a fresh start. Whether you are looking to get in shape, start eating healthier, take more time for yourself, get more sleep or save money, here are a few apps that will help make the process a little easier.

Meditate

Taking time for yourself to simply relax and clear your mind is very important. Meditation has numerous benefits such as reducing stress, improving concentration, increasing happiness and much more. If you don’t know where to start, Headspace guides you through the meditation process. With simple 10-minute sessions, the app calls itself the “gym for the mind.” The app helps you apply mindfulness techniques through everyday life.

Get off Social Media

How much time do you spend on social media or just surfing the internet? Instead could this time be used to do something more productive? I know personally I find myself grabbing my phone and checking social media without even thinking, it has just become a habit. I recently started using Google Chrome and set up Work Mode. This browser extension restricts access to eight sites that tend to be a time suck including Facebook and YouTube. You can turn it on and off whenever you need to focus.

Manage Your Budget

No one wants to have to stress about money. Are there ways you can be smarter when it comes to your spending this year? Albert was one of the most downloaded apps of 2016, which means it must actually work. The app looks at your financial outlook and provides recommendations for actionable improvements like lowering credit card fees or setting up the right retirement plan.

Get Enough Sleep

Getting enough sleep and maintaining a sleep routine is something I swear by. I make sure to go to sleep and wake up at the exact same time every day. And it is essential to make sure you are getting the recommended 7 to 9 hours of sleep a night. If you are having trouble falling asleep, Melodies is an app that provides soothing ambient audio designed to help you fall asleep; think rain, birds, waves, humming, etc.

Eat Right

Use apps like MyFitnessPal to keep track of everything you eat. The app has almost every food imaginable in its database so you can log all your meals in order to track calories, nutrients, macros and even vitamins; everything you need to maintain a healthy and balanced diet in 2017.
