Time To Reflect

It feels like I blinked and 2016 is gone. The past year flew by and it is hard to believe that the New Year is quickly approaching. Of course, this is the time of year when we slow down, take time with family and friends, eat way too much and hopefully just enjoy life. But it is also the time of year for reflection. The time when we look back on the past year and think about what went well, what where some of the highs, some of the lows, what we could have done better.

For me, I always feel like each year has a theme, something that really stood out throughout the year. In 2015, that theme was definitely my career. I had started to settle into my job a Peake Media, began to feel more comfortable and even took on a new role. It was a year were a dedicated myself to my job and excelled in that area of my life.

Reflecting on this year, if I had to pick a theme, I would most certainly be friendship. I am someone who tends to be a bit of a loner. I like to do my own thing, have my space and time to myself. However, this year, I really learned the importance to letting people into your life because when you are going through the rough times, they are the ones you lean on. These friendships that you build are not only what make the tough times more bearable, but they make life more amazing in general.

I had my fair share of tests this year, times when I struggled and wanted to give up. Even when I wanted to keep these things to myself, my friends were right there by my side supporting me and lifting me up, even when I least expected it. The value of that really cannot be expressed in words.

Thinking back on 2016, I challenge you to try to think of a theme. What is one word that you would use to sum up your year? By taking the time to really sit down and reflect of the last 12 months allows you to cherish the accomplishments you are proud of, but also identify areas you want to work on in the New Year in order to make 2017 an even better year than the last.

Here’s to moving forward!
