octane fitness Octane Fitness, a Nautilus, Inc. (NYSE:NLS) brand, is revolutionizing the cardio floor at colleges and universities worldwide with its new ZR8000 Zero Runner, which reinvents running by eliminating repetitive impact. For the first time, exercisers and facility operators can capitalize on the first true alternative to a treadmill, delivering all the benefits of walking and running, but without the excessive stress to the body or high cost of operation, maintenance and service.

“We transformed running by removing the pounding on the joints for a safer, more accessible way for anyone to walk, jog and run,” said Tim Porth, vice president, product development, commercial and specialty at Octane. “Totally unique to the industry, the ZR8000 is a valuable new addition to any cardio floor; plus, the self-powered machine has minimal maintenance needs, so facilities enjoy greater ease of ownership.”

Smarter than a Treadmill

The state-of-the-art design of the ZR8000 features independent hip and knee joints to customize natural running motion. Ten resistance levels facilitate walking to jogging to hill work, and users can seamlessly transition to all-out running with a stride length up to 58 inches. Contoured handles offer multiple hand positions for a proper upright posture.

Zero Runner exercisers can replicate the same strides they use outdoors, where they can focus on their glutes and hamstrings more fully than they can on a treadmill’s moving belt. And unique stride tracing technology (smart console only) enables users to monitor their stride throughout workouts for stronger form and better results.

With 11 workout programs, including interval training and distance and calorie goals, exercisers can take advantage of training variety. Octane’s signature CROSS CiRCUIT® routine combines cardio intervals on the Zero Runner with strength and stretching exercises off the machine to correct muscular imbalances, build overall strength, increase flexibility and improve core power. With the smart console, CROSS CiRCUIT video demonstrations and coaching help ensure proper form.

Facilities can use CROSS CiRCUIT to run effective small group training, with the optional two PowerBlock adjustable dumbbells and integrated weight stand on the machine for convenient storage.

For customized feedback and entertainment, the ZR8000 comes with a standard or smart console. The standard version features a large LED screen with integrated capacitive buttons; and the smart console is a 10” capacitive touch screen, with web browsing, video streaming, phone charging and a three-speed fan. Entertainment options also include personal viewing screens – which add TV, movie and entertainment selections – or wireless 900Mhz capabilities.

The machine is equipped with digital contact and wireless heart rate monitoring, ANT+, and Bluetooth® 4.0.

Running Reinvented

Without a motor, belt or deck, the self-powered ZR8000 is compact and quiet and will be available in June 2016. For more information, visit www.zerorunner.com.
