MISSION 

Princeton University Campus Recreation seeks to improve the health and well-being of the university community through the core principles of fitness and wellness, healthy competition, lifelong skill development and community building. These guiding principles aim to improve the quality of life on campus and strengthen the ties between and among undergraduates, graduate students and faculty and staff. Campus Recreation provides educational and leadership opportunities through instructional programs, intramural activities and sport club teams for diverse levels of skill and ability. As the focal point of recreation, Dillon Gymnasium provides a full range of facilities for participation in personal fitness and wellness and informal recreation at the crossroads of the Princeton campus.

FACILITIES

Dillon Gymnasium serves Princeton University’s approximately 8,000 total students (2014-2015 enrollment: 5,275 undergraduate and 2,671 graduates) and over 1,900 membership holders. The multi-use facility is centrally located on campus and has been one of the most heavily used buildings since its construction in 1947. Dillon currently serves as the home of Campus Recreation. The expansive 150,000 square foot facility boasts a wide variety of fitness and programmable activity space, including the 8,000 square foot Stephens Fitness Center, an additional 1,200 square foot cardio space, four full sized basketball courts, a 25 yard pool, 1 doubles, 3 North American and 5 international squash courts, a dedicated group fitness/cycling room, a martial arts room and several other multi-purpose dance/fitness areas. Campus Recreation at Princeton University consists of a diverse intramural and special event program; a robust sport club program, featuring 37 clubs and a varied group exercise and instructional program.

 

FUN FACTS

  • Dillon Gym see approximately 350,000 visits each year.
  • The Stephens Fitness Center has over 250,000 usages per year.
  • The Tiger Trot 5K and annual Dodge ball tournament are two of the most highly attended events held by Campus Recreation.
  • The popular Princeton University Summer Day Camp is administered by Campus Recreation.
