Technogym, the world’s leading wellness and fitness company, and Official Equipment Supplier for the past six Olympic Games, including the most recent RioGames, is pleased to announce the donation of 600 pieces of fitness equipment through the “Let’s Move for Rio” social campaign, supporting disadvantaged communities in Rio de Janeiro.
Launched in July 2016, the “Let’s Move for Rio” campaign provided the opportunity for Olympic Athletes in Rio and fitness enthusiasts from across the world to donate Technogym equipment by tracking their physical activity with Technogym’s mywellness cloud, the fitness industry’s first cloud-based open platform. As participants logged workouts on Technogym equipment and through the App, MOVEs were collected. For every 75,000 MOVEs – Technogym’s unit of measurement – earned, one piece of equipment would be donated.
Generating over 49 million MOVEs worldwide through the “Let’s Move for Rio” campaign, the company will outfit 22 local facilities with state-of-the-art Technogym products in partnership with the Empresa Olimpica Municipal, part of the official municipality of Rio de Janeiro.
“At Rio 2016, Technogym promoted wellness on the global stage, empowering people everywhere to make healthy and active lifestyle choices through state-of-the-art products and services,” said Nerio Alessandri, Technogym Founder and CEO. “Through the ‘Let’s Move for Rio’ social campaign, we have made a lasting impression in Rio de Janeiro, inspiring local athletes to pursue their wellness goals.”
As the Official Supplier for Rio 2016, Technogym equipped 15 Olympic fitness facilities, including the main training center located in the Olympic Village in Barra da Tijuca and 14 warm-up stations located at specific competition venues, with over 1,200 pieces of equipment. The company also endorsed an elite team of ambassadors including international tennis star Rafael Nadal, San Antonio Spurs and Italian national basketball player Marco Belinelli and Jamaican-American track and field medalist Sanya Richards-Ross.
