“Podcasts allow me to learn on the run,” explained Emmett Williams the President of MyZone. “I’m going to blame the children. Ever since I had two children and ran a business that works in multiple time zones, I just can’t find the time to read books.”
Williams was a special listener guest on the Fitness Business Podcast show 16 that featured Brian O’Rourke, President of the Fitness Industry Technology Council.
“Literally, I have been learning on the run as I train for marathon. I can kill two birds with one stone – get the miles in and get my education in,” said Williams
Williams went on to share that shows that featured Dr Paul Bedford and Bill McBride had sparked his interest.
“Paul spoke about the association between group exercise and retention. I knew there was an association and I presumed it was because the girls that do group exercise just liked hanging in a tribe. The statistics show it is because they book it in their calendar. It comes down to accountability and routine.”
“Bill shared in his show, fitness centres are differentiated from other fitness options through habit formation, accountability, and motivation. Then in one of Justin Tamsett’s interviews on consumer trends and technology he reinforced the importance of habits, routines and accountability is what the consumer wants. These interviews reinforced for us at MyZone we are building the right product,” said Williams
