The May/June 2024 issue of Campus Rec Magazine features Northern Michigan University (NMU) on its cover.
The Rec Sports team at NMU organizes a variety of outdoor adventures — from waterfall hikes to ice climbing — to introduce students to the natural wonders surrounding the university. They also foster community engagement by offering programs for faculty, staff and local residents, creating a diverse and inclusive environment within the university’s recreational facilities.
With that, the team’s impact extends beyond campus through partnerships with community organizations facilitating club sports like sailing and rowing. In addition, NMU’s summer camp addresses local childcare needs while providing a fun and educational experience for children.
Despite recent changes, including a transition to the Northern Student Experience pillar, the Rec Sports team remains dedicated to serving the NMU community. Their resilience and determination highlight the importance of teamwork and collaboration in achieving their mission of enhancing student life through recreation.
