FloorballPlanet is proud to announce it will be attending the U.S. Floorball National Championships to be held in Lynchburg, Virginia, August 2-4, 2019 in conjunction with State Games of America.
Floorball is a safe, fast-paced team sport similar to indoor hockey. It is played on foot with a lightweight stick, plastic ball and rules that are easy to learn.
For the first time ever, the annual USA Floorball National Championship tournament is partnering with the Olympic-style State Games of America at its bi-annual national competition. For 2019, Floorball is being scheduled as a participation sport. Teams from all over the United States will vie for the National Championship. In addition to the adult elite division, youth teams – ages 10-14 – will also compete for the Youth Championship.
Floorball is one of the fastest growing indoor sports in the world. The rules lend themselves to an exciting and fast style of game play that is easy to learn. While similar to floor hockey, it has significant differences. The equipment design makes it safer and quicker. A floorball stick is shorter than a floor hockey stick at just over waist high, very light weight with a better grip making it easier to control, and tough – fiberglass composites– for excellent durability. This makes the game very fast and there is never any damage to gym floors. There is no body checking or stick checking. These rules along with the easy-to-handle sticks make the game safe for everybody.
Floorball has been a World Cup sport since the ’90s. The United States fields four national teams for international competition – Men’s, Women’s, U19 Men’s and U19 Women’s. Floorball will be an official sport in the World Games in Birmingham, Alabama, in 2021.
Floorball appeals to the athlete and non-athlete alike. Unlike other popular team sports, floorball is inclusive – individual players generally cannot dominate play. It can be played by all ages together and is ideally suited to co-ed play. Rec programs are in desperate need of participatory activities. Floorball is an addictive team sport which gathers friends together to enjoy a great workout in a competitive environment.
FloorballPlanet will be at the tournament location, E.C. Glass High School in Lynchburg for the entire weekend. Representatives of campus rec programs or any other sports program can see firsthand competitive floorball, examine a complete range of floorball sticks and equipment, and discuss all aspects of implementing an intramural or campus recreation floorball program. Or you can learn about starting a floorball club or new venue in your area.
FloorballPlanet is engaged in the nationwide development of floorball and offers a comprehensive equipment selection. Visit floorballplanet.com for more information.
