Mission

The mission of Lindenwood University Campus Recreation is to provide programs, services and facilities that are responsive to the physical, social and recreational needs of the campus community as they relate to health and fitness.

Facilities

Located on the ground floor of Evans Commons, Campus Recreation is a 44,000-square-foot facility housing three basketball courts, a multipurpose court, group fitness studio, locker rooms, 130-meter indoor track and a newly renovated 7,600-square-foot Fitness Center. The Campus Recreation department also oversees 12 outdoor pickleball courts and two outdoor sand volleyball courts.

Programming

The Campus Recreation facility is free to all Lindenwood University students, faculty and staff. The university also offers a facility membership for those who have graduated, which costs just $25 a month.

Intramurals

The Intramural program offers multiple sports, including beach volleyball, flag football, softball, 3-on-3 basketball, indoor volleyball, indoor soccer and outdoor soccer. Softball, flag football and outdoor soccer are played on Lindenwood University’s Athletic Department’s NCAA Division I fields.

Campus Recreation also hosts a growing group fitness program that currently offers yoga and Zumba. Special programming is also offered in a variety of fields, including self-defense.

Multiple collaborations with the Exercise Science academic department include fitness prescription and programming classes utilizing the facility. Students in these courses can work with volunteer employees to earn personal training experience. In addition, adapted physical education classes utilize the basketball courts weekly in partnership with Lindenwood University students studying therapeutic recreation and physical education.

 Highlights

The Campus Recreation facility underwent a comprehensive remodel in summer of 2022. The newly renovated fitness center includes a cardio floor, free weight area, machine weight equipment, and an X-Fit room for Olympic and power lifting.

The entire renovation was done in partnership with True Fitness, and the space is equipped with the latest equipment from the vendor. The facility also holds a track that sits above the basketball courts with more machine weights as well as a newly repurposed assessment area for kinesiology students to use with personal training clients. The facility offers a welcoming and fun environment for all students and employees on campus to achieve their health and fitness goals.
