Campus Rec Magazine is excited to announce the 2027 Campus Rec Leadership Summit will be located in Santa Ana Pueblo, New Mexico, at the Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort and Spa.
Located at the bottom of the Sandia Mountains near Albuquerque, the Hyatt Regency Tamaya provides a tranquil and luxurious getaway. But this location wasn’t just chosen for its beauty. This resort was built to pull you out of your inbox. From horseback riding and scenic hikes to hot air balloon rides over the Rio Grande and the rich local culture, Santa Ana Pueblo is an incredible place for connection and rejuvenation.
Campus rec directors can’t solve long-term problems while stuck in daily firefighting. That’s why the Summit is more than an agenda — it’s a three-step reset.
- Step away. Leave the daily fires behind — both physically and mentally.
- Think clearly. Sit with 60 peers wrestling with similar budget hurdles, staffing gaps and consistent pressure to do more with less.
- Return with tools. Leave with specific action items, not just a nice memory.
When attending events like these, it’s vital to return to campus both refreshed and with concrete ideas and plans.
“The Campus Rec Summit is the most valuable professional development opportunity for recreation directors currently offered in our field,” said David Hall, the director of Recreation at Quinnipiac University. “This event provides an intimate setting to relax and discuss the most relevant topics in our field while incorporating intentional social opportunities to build relationships with multiple colleagues.”
The goal of the Summit is to allow leaders the space to take a step back from day-to-day operations, share common challenges facing campus recreation, and find the solutions needed to continue meaningful investments in students, staff and teams.
At a time when campus rec departments are consistently being asked to do more with less, the Summit offers a place to listen and learn how to lead through the complexity. Leadership at this level can feel isolating, but the Summit is here to fix that.
“The intentionality to create numerous opportunities to connect with peers and engage in meaningful and enriching discussions is what sets the Summit apart,” said Laura Hall, the senior director of RecSports at the University of Florida. “After multiple years, I continue to walk away with new folks met, lessons learned, and ideas to take back and implement.”
Through roundtable discussions, education, networking opportunities and unique excursions, the Summit brings together 60 directors from across the country alongside countless industry partners.
