Train in a New Direction with the LateralX®

As cardiovascular fitness equipment has evolved, new modalities now challenge the body differently to provide variety and motivate exercisers. Progressive health clubs and recreation centers can remain competitive and retain members by satisfying ongoing expectations of new machines and multiple ways to exercise.

While treadmills, ellipticals and stationary bikes are all gym floor mainstays, they all require movement only linearly, or front to back, in the sagittal plane. Of course, the human body moves in multiple planes – sagittal, frontal (side to side) and transverse (rotation) – and therefore, incorporating motion in all planes during exercise offers valuable functional training and improved conditioning.

The LateralX is an innovative variation of a traditional elliptical machine that goes from a vertical stepping motion to an adjustable side-to-side motion, which creates unique workouts that are fueling fitness facilities worldwide.

Add a New Dimension

Unlike any cardio machine today, the award-winning LateralX uses 10 varying planes of motion to foster muscle confusion that drives results. At any time during workouts, exercisers can easily change from a vertical stepping motion to lateral movement with the press of a button. With 30 resistance levels and 10 lateral width adjustments, the LateralX equally accommodates beginners to athletes.

Here’s why campus rec centers should capitalize on the incredibly popular LateralX:

  1. Multi-planar motion – Exercisers can bust boredom and plateaus with different motions for new challenges
  2. Low-impact/total-body – More efficient, effective workouts with minimal joint stress
  3. Greater caloric expenditure — Research shows 27% increase in calorie burn from lateral width 1 to 10
  4. More use of inner/outer thighs – Studies indicate 30% greater use of the hard-to-target outer and inner thighs over traditional ellipticals
  5. Upper–body ergonomics – One-of-a-kind MultiGrip™ and Converging Path™ handlebars better engage the upper body and custom-fit exercisers
  6. Built-in cross training – QuadPower™, ThighToner™ and X-Mode™ add variety and intervals with targeted movements
  7. CROSS CiRCUIT® – Combined cardio and strength interval routine can be performed independently or used for small group training
  8. Workout variety – Benefit from cross training with Lateral Interval, Dual Direction, 30:30 Interval and MMA
  9. Versatile – Adds new intensity to athletes’ regimens for better performance, and is simple and intuitive for new exercisers or those rehabilitating from an injury
  10. Ease of ownership – Self-powered*, smaller than an elliptical and built to take a beating, the rock-solid, whisper-quiet LateralX fits anywhere on your cardio floor and requires minimal maintenance

I’ve heard so much about LateralX University and it’s amazing research outcomes. How and where can I apply to this institution? I’ve searched, but haven’t come across any references to read the full study results. Thanks for your help.
