When Augustana College first created its esports program, Joe Loomis, the director of Esports, said the school was completing a buildout/renovation of a new varsity sports facility. “Spectrum Industries joined the project early on in the timeline to assist our institution in developing a facility plan that met all of our needs,” he said. “Spectrum Industries’ superior customer support pushed them to the top of the list of potential companies to partner with on our esports facility project.”

Three years later, Augustana College is still a customer of Spectrum Industries and still sees strong results from the partnership. Loomis provides more details below on the specific benefits of working with the company, advice for other campus rec professionals and more.

Why did you decide to partner with Spectrum Industries?

The Spectrum staff went above and beyond to understand our project needs and build a relationship with our program in a way that no other company came close to achieving. Spectrum really wanted to understand our goals and how our space would function so they could develop a project plan specific to our needs.

What are the benefits to your users as a result of this partnership?

Our partnership has not stopped once the sale was completed, but our relationship has continued to grow as the Spectrum staff has continued outreach to see how our space is functioning and how the product is working in our space. Through these check-ins we have made functional changes to our floorplan so our students can better utilize the esports facility based on real-world needs.

Have you been pleasantly surprised by working with Spectrum Industries in any way?

Seeing the Spectrum staff at a number of esports conferences has been amazing. The Spectrum staff really wants to understand the educational esports space so they can best support their clients through the entire planning and buildout process.

What else can you tell other campus rec professionals about the benefits of working with Spectrum Industries?

Spectrum Industries is much more than a furniture company. They are able to provide turnkey solutions based on the real-world needs of your program.
