Campus recreation often bridges fitness and sustainability, but Cleveland State University (CSU) has taken this commitment to the next level. In this video, Heather Hartmann, the editor of Campus Rec Magazine, chats with Michelle Rieger, the senior associate director of programming and operations at CENTERS LLC at CSU. Rieger shares how the university’s partnership with SportsArt exemplifies environmental wellness while enhancing the student experience.

CSU’s journey began with SportsArt’s inaugural Campus Challenge, aligning perfectly with the university’s LEED-certified recreation center and a fitness team dedicated to eco-friendly practices. By participating and winning, the university received seven pieces of cardio equipment that convert human energy into electricity, seamlessly merging fitness with environmental impact. These state-of-the-art machines are now showcased in a scenic section of the rec center, where students can work out while giving back to the environment.

The collaboration with SportsArt didn’t stop at equipment delivery. Their team offered exceptional customer service, from addressing shipping concerns to supporting CSU’s educational efforts. SportsArt’s commitment to sustainability shines in their plans to sponsor an Earth Day event on campus, further solidifying their role as a partner in driving environmental awareness.
