What is the Summit all About?

Just like Campus Rec Magazine strives to educate and empower campus rec executives through content, we also do this through our events. The third annual Campus Rec Leadership Summit will take place June 24-26, 2019. Forty campus rec executives alongside limited sponsors will gather for two days of roundtable discussions, networking and fun. The Summit is an intimate event designed to connect and build relationships among peers and suppliers.

The event will take place at the Phoenician Resort, a five-star resort in Scottsdale, Arizona, with nine pools, a 165-foot waterslide, a 27-hole golf course, a renovated spa and fitness facility, and more.

The event kicks off the first morning with a golf scramble at the newly renovated Phoenician golf course.

Attendees will dive into six roundtables over two days with topics including: Combining Wellness and Recreation, Developing Leaders, Esports 101, Implementing Alternative Programming, Growing Revenue Streams, and Campus Recreation Horizon.

Roundtables topics are formulated based on attendee suggestions, feedback and from the event moderator. For example, the esports roundtable is a growing discussion in the world of campus recreation. We received many requests about directors wanting a discussion on this topic as they navigate how to incorporate esports into the expanding ideas of recreation and wellness. Our moderator for 2019, Amber Long of the University of Colorado Denver, will be leading attendees and sponsors through discussions that always produce incredible ideas and information exchange.

“The Summit was a tremendous opportunity to connect and share experiences with peers. This event is one of the best professional development opportunities of the year, as attendees collectively discuss and move collegiate recreation forward.”

Jeremy Battjes, Assistant Dean for Administration and Director of University Recreation, University of Arkansas

Attendees will have some fun, too! A salsa/margarita mixing challenge is planned the first night and a group workout sponsored by Technogym the next day.  An outdoor social dinner will also be hosted by our premier sponsor Matrix the second evening.

But of course, this event would not be possible without our sponsors. We want to give a huge thank you to each of our partners who are currently sponsoring the 2019 Leadership Summit: Our premier partner Matrix; our diamond partners Keiser, Power Systems and Technogym; and our platinum partners Aacer Sports Flooring, Ecore Athletic, Global Archery Tag, Myzone, S3Design, Sasaki Associates and TRX Training.

Attendee and sponsors spots are almost sold out for the event! View the entire event itinerary here and email carrie@peakemedia.com for additional details before it’s too late.
