MISSION

The mission of Marshall University Campus Recreation is to provide exceptional recreation, wellness and education opportunities that meet the needs of Marshall University and the surrounding communities. We will be recognized as one of the premier Campus Recreation and Fitness Facilities in West Virginia and the surrounding region by providing high quality programs, facilities and customer services. We will serve as an entity of the University that is financially viable and expands recreational facilities and programs on campus while continuing to promote a healthy lifestyle for all of our patron. We will be recognized and utilized as a significant university-wide recruitment and retention entity.

FACILITIES

Designed by Hastings and Chivetta, the Marshall Recreation Center opened in 2009 to rave reviews by both students and faculty. The center also serves as a laboratory for students enrolled in courses in exercise science, sports and recreation. The three-story facility offers students and faculty an indoor pool, a four-court gymnasium, a three-lane jogging track, racquetball courts, group exercise studios, a juice bar, pro shop, outdoor deck areas and a three-story climbing wall. As the project’s manager, CENTERS fully maintains and operates the facility as a separate enterprise from the university. All procurement and expenses are managed through CENTERS’ corporate staff and all building maintenance, repairs and custodial services are directed by staff on site.

PROGRAMMING

At the Marshall Recreation Center, students have a wide variety of programming options to choose from, including, group classes, nutrition consultations, fitness testing, persona training, aquatics, competitive sports, youth programs, a climbing and bouldering wall, outdoor trips and more.
