Bell Bank Park, powered by Legacy Sports USA, is a 320-acre world-class family sports and entertainment park. The one-of-a-kind park features a 3,000-seat outdoor stadium, esports arena, indoor arena, 35 soccer, lacrosse and football fields, 57 indoor volleyball courts, eight baseball and adult softball fields, 16 fastpitch softball and little league baseball fields, 19 basketball courts, 41 pickleball courts, 12 beach volleyball courts, an obstacle course racing park, 22 futsal courts, a gymnastics center, a dance studio, a cheer center, a sports performance center, a fitness center, a wellness center, 2.7-acre Great Lawn for concerts and events, a 17,000-square-foot Sports Restaurant and Bar, and so much more.

Bell Bank Park expands beyond sports. Its team creates festivals, signature experiences and live concerts that feature national touring acts. The park will create a thriving entertainment destination in Mesa and the Greater Phoenix region.

Dan O’Brien, the executive vice president of Sports Performance, Health, Wellness and Fitness at Bell Bank Park powered by Legacy Sports USA, shared more on the space below:

Can you share some unique aspects of Bell Bank Park?

DO: With numerous playing fields and indoor space, Bell Bank Park serves as a major hub for professional, club and recreation competition at various levels of expertise and proficiency. The park is geared toward high energy entertainment, sports and recovery.

What was the inspiration behind building Bell Bank Park?

DO: The inspiration behind Legacy Sports USA was the brain child of Randy Miller, our founder, 25 years ago. He had a son who played baseball and another who played basketball. They always played at different times and different facilities. He was running himself ragged getting his kids to games and practices all year long. One day he thought, “Why can’t all these sports facilities and food be in the same place?” And the idea was formed. Legacy wanted to put sports, practice facilities, food and fun all under one roof. The goal here at Bell Bank Park is to give kids and families a memorable experience on the best fields and courts they have ever seen.

What have you learned in the first few months of operations?

DO: Customer service is the key in all areas we offer, from parking to concessions, ticketing, etc. You can’t be everything to all people, so do what you do best. For us, that is sports and entertainment.

Why did you purchase Peloton and Precor equipment?

DO: I have been in and around gyms my entire life. Even as a retired athlete I train almost every day. I have seen all types of fitness centers around the world, and the Precor label is always my preferred brand. For durability and consistency, I know I can always rely on Precor.

One of the keys to my fitness is I make it a point to sweat every day. Even while traveling, I always take the time to find a gym and sweat it out. Running was my go to, but after only one Peloton ride I was hooked. The instructors — my favorite is Jess King — the workouts and the Peloton Bike made it easy for me to go from running to cycling.

What about your buying experience with Peloton Commercial set them apart?

DO: The Marathon Fitness Precor/Peloton distributor — Suzanne Nadel — made it easy for me to choose the equipment that was right for this facility. The attention they gave me and the Legacy group was unmatched and deadlines were always met.

What would you do differently if you were to build this facility again?

DO: Bell Bank Park is located in one of the fastest growing communities in the country. However, the population is only about 250,000 people right now. Two years from now there will be close to a million people in the area. We have a large facility and it is at times a challenge to keep it full. A phased approach might have saved us from some changes down the road.
