Wellness Advocates

The Peer Wellness Advocates are a group of students dedicated to improving health and well-being at MSMU. Peer Wellness Advocates are trained to provide education, referral and health advocacy services to other students. They bring a student perspective to current health and social issues. Peer Wellness Advocates help develop and implement new wellness initiatives they recognize as critical to MSMU, and help others make healthy lifestyle choices through workshops, outreach and one-on-one coaching.

Resilience Coaching

Resilience is the ability to overcome obstacles. Anyone can learn to become resilient. Resilience Coaching is a peer-led, one-on-one coaching experience available to all students. The program takes place over four sessions in which students practice skills to increase self-confidence, improve problem solving and manage stress to become more resilient. Students who completed all four sessions showed a 15% increase in resiliency.

FUN FACTS

  • MSMU will break ground this summer on a new facility that will not only be a home for the recreation center but also a wellness hub for the entire MSMU community.
  • Resilience Coaching is offered at MSMU. In prior studies, students who completed all four sessions showed a 15% increase in resiliency.
  • A number of wellness events are offered at MSMU, including Love Your Body Week, Weekly Crafter-noons, Snack of the Week and more.
