MISSION

The mission of the University of Kentucky Campus Recreation is to provide quality recreation and wellness programs and services for the campus community that support student success and promote healthy lifestyles. The Department of Campus Recreation strives to be an exemplary model of a comprehensive, inclusive, and progressive recreational sports program.

FACILITIES 

Indoor facilities include the Johnson Student Recreation Center, the Seaton Center, Lancaster Aquatic Center and Alumni Gym (Under renovation). Outdoor facilities include the Pieratt Student Recreational Sports Field Complex, Johnson Center Outdoor Basketball Courts, Tennis Courts, Club Sports Fields, Adena Park, Cooper Drive Picnic Area and Coliseum Basketball Courts.

 PROGRAMING 

Student have access to fitness assessments, personal training sessions, group fitness classes, climbing wall sessions and outdoor adventure trips. Students can also participate in a wide variety of intramural sports including tug-o-war, volleyball, flag football, kickball, tennis, cornhole, basketball, soccer, wiffleball and much more.

FUN FACTS

  • In the past year, group fitness classes saw 29,847 participants.
  • The climbing wall had 3,452 active registered climbers.
  • During the 2014-2015 academic year, there were 828 intramural teams with 7,461 participants.
  • Additional programming included Ladies Night, which was a fitness showcasing event featuring equipment demonstrations, small group personal training and specialized group fitness classes.
  • Unique group exercise programs included inversion yoga, glow in the dark yoga and cycling classes, a fall fitness challenge and much more.
